The shroud of secrecy thrown around the wind turbine wrecked by a UFO was lifted yesterday for The Sun’s X-Files-style hunt for aliens.

UFO hunters are convinced the giant turbine on the wind farm in Conisholme, Lincs, was struck by a flying saucer.

The zone has been sealed off since the structure was destroyed at 4am a week ago when witnesses reported mysterious lights and deafening noise.

Close examination suggested it had taken an almighty blow from a large solid object that smashed one side of the blade.

Sadly, our hour-long mission uncovered no sign of alien life.

Security teams and dog patrols guard the site — just like at America’s fabled Area 51, where many believe the US military conceals the wreckage of UFOs.

Ecotricity have ruled out a lightning strike or build-up of ice wrecking the turbine.

Ministry of Defence sources hinted it may have been hit by an unmanned stealth jet.

And forensic scientists in Germany are studying sections of wreckage.
