Black River/Jackson County All-terrain Vehicle (ATV) Trails
The closed section of ATV trail will reopen Thursday, July 3. Dry weather has greatly improved this section and it is freshly groomed.
Still, as this area of trail can receive heavy usage and is near wet areas, the trail can be rough after a few days of traffic. If you get to a section of trail that is wet, ride as gently as you can through this area so that it does not get rutted. It is of the utmost importance that riders stay on the trails at all times and do not leave them to travel around a rough area. There will be zero tolerance of off-trail riding.
The drying out of the trails is only a temporary solution to a larger problem. The section of the trail that was closed has 18 wetland crossings that need to be upgraded. We have applied for permits to upgrade these and hope to begin construction this fall.
Trails will likely be dusty so we recommend headlights at all time, goggles, and a bandana or something to put over your mouth and nostrils. Ride safely and ethically, report trail abuse, and have fun!
