Belli is one of a rising number of people turning to wood stoves as a primary source of heat. He relies on wood from tree around his house, but those who aren't fortunate enough to have a ready supply could expect to pay several hundred dollars per year for wood.

The Department of Energy predicts that families using home heating oil will pay about $720 more to heat their homes this year.
