Eek-eek, eek-eek, eek-eek, eek-eek! That's what Mrs. Reverend's Cherokee says when turning a corner. I haven't looked at it yet, but by guessing, my diagnosis is a front axle u-joint is saying goodbye. Today I will look at it and see if I can tell for sure which side, and confirm my diagnosis. No stores around here are open on Sunday. I'll have to wait to buy parts tomorrow, and the Mrs. needs to drive it until at least Thursday before I can tear it apart.

What next?!

  1. Yep, that's what it is. The axle shaft outer u-joint on the passenger side is shot. Doesn't look too hard to change, provided there's no surprises built into it. Nobody within a reasonable distance is open today, so won't be until almost the end of the week before I can fix it.

  2. All fixed now! Took about an hour by myself. Not too big of a deal. After the test drive, I noticed a little gear oil dripping from the axle tube. But, I think it's just from when I had the axle pulled out of the differential.
