...ARCTIC COLD BLAST TO BRING SNOW...BLOWING SNOW...STRONG WINDS
AND DANGEROUS WIND CHILLS TUESDAY INTO TUESDAY NIGHT...

A POWERFUL ARCTIC COLD FRONT WILL SURGE ACROSS THE TRI-STATE REGION
TUESDAY MORNING. THIS FRONT WILL BRING A DRAMATIC DROP IN
TEMPERATURES WITH ITS PASSAGE...WITH TEMPERATURES LIKELY DROPPING
MORE THAN 20 DEGREES WITHIN A FEW HOURS AS IT MOVES ACROSS THE AREA
DURING THE MORNING. BY THE AFTERNOON...SUB-ZERO TEMPERATURES WILL
BE SPREADING INTO THE AREA...AND THESE TEMPERATURES WILL CONTINUE TO
PLUMMET INTO THE TEENS BELOW ZERO TUESDAY NIGHT.

A BAND OF MODERATE TO HEAVY SNOW IS ALSO LIKELY TO DEVELOP BEHIND
THE FRONT ON TUESDAY MORNING...AND WILL MOVE ACROSS MUCH OF THE AREA
WITH A BRIEF BUT INTENSE PERIOD OF FALLING SNOW. A QUICK COUPLE OF
INCHES OF SNOW IS POSSIBLE WITH THIS BAND OF SNOW...AND WHEN
COMBINED WITH INCREASING WINDS OF 20 TO 30 MPH...WILL PRODUCE VERY
LOW VISIBILITIES...AND TREACHEROUS TRAVEL.

ONCE THE BAND OF SNOW DIMINISHES AND WINDS CONTINUE TO INCREASE INTO
THE AFTERNOON...WIDESPREAD BLOWING SNOW IS LIKELY...WITH LOW
VISIBILITIES IN OPEN AREAS. THIS WILL CONTINUE INTO THE EVENING
HOURS BEFORE WINDS DIMINISH.

COMBINING THE BITTERLY COLD ARCTIC AIRMASS...AND STRONG WINDS...
WIND CHILL VALUES WILL TUMBLE INTO THE 20S BELOW ZERO ON TUESDAY
AFTERNOON...AND WILL FALL FURTHER INTO THE 30S BELOW ZERO TUESDAY
NIGHT.

THE COMBINATION OF THESE WINTER WEATHER ELEMENTS ADDS UP TO A
POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS WINTER WEATHER SITUATION FOR ALL AREAS
BEGINNING TUESDAY MORNING AND CONTINUING INTO THE EVENING. IF
CONFIDENCE CONTINUES TO INCREASE ON SNOWFALL AMOUNTS...DURATION...
AND LOCATION...VARIOUS WINTER STORM RELATED WATCHES...WARNINGS...
AND ADVISORIES WILL BE ISSUED DURING THE DAY TODAY TO HIGHLIGHT
SPECIFIC THREATS...TIMES...AND LOCATIONS FOR THIS POTENTIALLY HIGH-
IMPACT WINTER WEATHER EVENT.
