It's been decided. Unless, by some miracle, the shitty turn that this ADAMS COUNTY train wreck has taken changes, we will leave Mom and Dad's house empty and abandoned. We will continue to pay the property taxes, which I will attempt to get reduced to reflect the supposed lot value of $2000 (the taxes are currently $1000 per year), so that their house can remain undisturbed, eventually in disrepair, as a badge of shame. We will post a billboard in the yard explaining the rotten situation for all others to be forewarned, in case it should happen to them (closer than 75 feet from the high water mark of a creek and closer than 83 feet to the centerline of a county road). Then someday, if any of us ever gets back to ADAMS COUNTY WISCONSIN, maybe with our grandchildren, we'll point at the little old house, with the roof caved in and the walls bulged out in the middle of the village of EASTON, and will tell them that's all that is left of their great-grandma & grandpa after the weight of ADAMS COUNTY crushed them.
